The time has come to plan and submit sessions for the 2026 American Anthropology Association Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri! The meeting will take place from November 18-22, 2026, and this year’s theme is On the Verge.
Our AAA Program Committee and Executive Board are excited to put together a great program for our members, but we need your help. Please begin organizing your oral presentations, posters, roundtables, conversation sessions, installations, and more! Here is a description of submission types. The submissions portal is now open, and submitters will have until Wednesday, April 29th to finalize and submit their proposals.
Unlike last year, AAA will accept individually submitted papers, as well as fully formed panels and roundtable discussions, posters, installations, and other proposal types. We encourage you to take advantage of the AAA Communities and the SAFN listserv to organize a session or network with colleagues. To help create cohesion and more opportunities for us to collaborate, we have come up with a few themes around which to organize SAFN-related panels. You can have a look at the themes here, and consider submitting a paper along those lines. Or if you have a different theme in mind, please add it to the document!
As a reminder, you will need to be a member of AAA and register for the meeting to present at the Annual Meeting. Also, individuals can only have one major (Presenter) role plus one secondary (Discussant) role per meeting. There are no limits on minor roles (Organizer/Chair). Submission details can be found on the AAA meeting website’s Submission FAQs— but please feel free to reach out to us if you have questions.
Let’s come together to create a vibrant and engaging program for the 2026 AAA Annual Meeting! We look forward to hearing about your paper proposals, answering your questions, and seeing you soon in St. Louis.
Best,
The SAFN program committee
