SAFN Awards

The Society for the Anthropology of Food and Nutrition offers five awards annually. Please follow the links below for details on each award.

The Future of Food Anthropology Fellowship, to amplify the research, community-engaged scholarship, or activism of junior scholars of color and catalyze more public engagement with food anthropology, while also building a more inclusive anthropology of food and nutrition.

The Student Research Award, to support the research phase of an original project focused on food and nutritional anthropology. This award is focused on decolonized, ethical research on food justice and food sovereignty.

The Thomas Marchione Food-as-a-Human-Right Student Award, for research and writing that engages with food security and food sovereignty issues.

The Christine Wilson Awards, one award for undergraduate research papers and another award for graduate student research papers that examine topics within the perspectives of nutrition, food studies and anthropology.
