The School of Language, Culture and Society at Oregon State University invites applications for an advanced assistant or associate professor whose research specialization includes an aspect of the global/ local food crisis as it impacts the poor, indigenous peoples, communities of color, and women at home or abroad. The position is a 1.0 FTE, 9-month appointment. Beginning salary is competitive, and the benefits package includes several options for health/dental/life insurance and retirement. The successful applicant may choose to have her/his tenure line in Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Foreign Languages and Literatures, or Women Studies.

TEACHING EXPECTATIONS:
Typical teaching load across three quarters is 4-5 courses, including introductory as well as upper division and graduate level courses. Specifically, this faculty member will also be responsible for developing courses having to do with the food crisis and/ or food insecurity within a social justice framework, with special attention to intersections of gender, race/ethnicity, nation, and poverty.
RESEARCH & SCHOLARSHIP EXPECTATIONS
The faculty member is expected to maintain interdisciplinary scholarly activities in her/his area of expertise, including presentations at regional/national/international conferences and publication of peer-reviewed articles and books.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Ph.D., discipline open;
2. Demonstrated experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in food crisis/food insecurity within a social justice framework and with specific attention to intersections with gender, race, nation, and poverty;
3. Record of scholarly publications and presentations commensurate with expectations for an advanced assistant or associate professor at OSU;
4. Demonstrated record of working with racial/ethnic minority students and faculty;
5. Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity;
6. Ability to supervise graduate student research and to work with other faculty and students on interdisciplinary/collaborative projects;
7. Evidence of potential to secure external funding for research.
